Event Description: September is National Campus Safety Awareness Month and the S.A.V.E. (Students Against Violence Everywhere) team is hosting a Student Safety Expo on September 16th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Yehl Ballroom. This newly created event will showcase more than 20 local community organizations and feature up to 4 live self defense demonstrations by State Troopers from the Pennsylvania State Police Department, MUNIO Self Defense, Premier Martial Arts, and the Mercyhurst University Public Safety Institute. This FREE event will bring together a wide array of professionals who aim to provide students with the knowledge and skills of emergency preparedness, Identity theft protection, budgeting tips and resources, as well as internet safety and fire prevention. Other attendees include: the U.S. Border Patrol, American Red Cross, Better Business Bureau, Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), the Erie Metropolitan Transit Authority, International Institute, District Attorneys Office, and several more! Special thanks to S.A.V.E., Crime Victim Center, SafeNet and all who attend as we strive to create a safer living and learning environment here at Gannon University.
