Event Description: Dear Local Leaders and Community Partners: Please join this years annual “Take Back the Night March and Community Rally” on Mon., April 7th at 7p.m. as it commences from Perry Square in downtown Erie. This event is free and open to the public as men and women of all ages come together as allies in order to take a stand against violence in our community. More than 200 participants are expected to proceed in solidarity with statistics and speakers along the way before concluding the march inside Gannon University’s Yehl Ballroom where survivors and others are invited to speak out and break the silence by sharing their stories. All who plan to participate are invited to a Pre-Event Poster Making Session on April 2nd at 7:30 p.m. within the Resource Room of the Waldron Campus Center Basement. Food and refreshments will be provided by the Activities Programming Board. This uplifting and empowering event is sponsored by the Gannon University Center for Social Concerns, SAVE: Students Against Violence Everywhere, and Gannon Fraternity and Sorority Life in collaboration with the City of Erie, Crime Victim Center, SafeNet, Erie-GAINS, and the Office of the District Attorney of Erie County, SGA, LIFE, APB, Athletic Council, and the Social Work Club. Special thanks to all of whom are working to uphold the law and create social justice for men, women, and children who are victims of sexual assault and abuse.
